Tales of an Amazon jungle guide: Ecotourism and Conservation in the Western Amazon
Paul Beaver received his doctorate from the University of Chicago in 1976, taught for a while at Purdue University and then at the University of Washington before working as a research associate in the Amazon forest for the Chicago Zoological Society. Enjoying the exploration of Amazon wilderness, Paul started the western’s Amazon first adventure camping company. This effort eventually grew into an ecotourism effort which includes a tourism lodge, a research center, and conservation of a 1.1 million acre reserve. A few years ago Paul wrote a book about this, titled Diary of an Amazon Jungle Guide.
