Academic advising is a partnership between a faculty advisor and a student in which the student sets personal educational goals. Together they develop strategies, including extracurricular activities, for attaining those goals.
Responsibilities of advisors include listening to the students, brainstorming options, and helping students to anticipate the consequences of decisions.
Responsibilities of students include being proactive in scheduling appointments with advisors, preparing for appointments, and participating actively in discussions with advisors.
Both students and advisors should be familiar with Morningside College’s programs and policies as well as resources available to assist in course scheduling and graduation planning.
This website provides access to a number of those resources.
