Maude Barlow, chair of the board for Food and Water Watch, will give a lecture at Morningside College at 7 p.m. Monday, April 22, in the UPS Auditorium in Lincoln Center, 3627 Peters Ave.
The lecture is titled “The Global Water Crisis and the Coming Battle for the Right to Water.” It is free and open to the public.
Food and Water Watch, based in Washington, D.C., advocates for policies that will result in healthy, safe food and access to safe and affordable drinking water.
In addition to serving as chair of the board for this organization, Barlow is a best-selling Canadian author and human rights activist. She is the recipient of at least 10 honorary doctorates and multiple environmental achievement awards. In 2008-2009, she served as senior advisor on water for the 63rd president of the United Nations General Assembly.
The lecture is co-sponsored by the Campus Events Series and the Committee on Environmental Sustainability.
