Morningside professor helps determine standards for teacher certification exam

Cathy WiltCathy Wilt, assistant professor of education at Morningside College, recently participated in a multistate study to determine recommendations regarding what should be a passing score for the Praxis Academic Skills for Educators test.

Wilt was nominated to participate in the study by Iowa’s educator licensing agency.

The study took place in in Princeton, N.J., and was conducted by the Educational Testing Service, which writes and administers the teacher certification exam.

Wilt has a master’s degree from Morningside College. She is certified as an elementary principal and teacher evaluator, and she is currently a doctoral student in educational leadership at Northcentral University. Before coming to Morningside College, she taught for 18 years in the Westwood Community School District in Sloan, Iowa, and she now serves on the school board there.
