The Morningside College Department of Music and the Leo Kucinski Academy of Music will be offering a series of summer music camps for students ranging in age from preschool to high school and with a variety of skill levels.
Detailed information on each of the camps, which begin in June, is available by calling Morningside’s music department at 712-274-5210.
Preschool and early elementary students will spend one week exploring string instruments during two sessions of the “String Explorer-No Experience Required (or expected)!!” camp. The camps run June 13-17 and June 20-24.
Young cellists of all ages and experience levels will play pieces arranged specifically for an all-cello ensemble during the “There’s Always Room for Cello!” camp, which is scheduled June 6-10.
The four-day “Strings Extravaganza I” and “Strings Extravaganza II” camps will work with elementary and middle school students with no experience or who have played for a few years. "Strings Extravaganza I" is June 27-30 and "Strings Extravaganza II" is August 1-4.
Students will rehearse in a big band/combo format during an intense, week-long “Summer Jazz Camp” June 20-25.
During weekly sessions of the “Summer Trombone Choir” camp, students will rehearse trombone choir literature. The sessions are scheduled every Wednesday from June 22 through July 27.
