Abstract paintings by Jamie Bowers of Sioux City will be on display September 26 through November 7 in the Hickman-Johnson-Furrow Learning Center, 1501 Morningside Avenue, on the Morningside College campus.
An opening reception for the exhibit will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on September 25 in the Hickman-Johnson-Furrow Learning Center.
A trial lawyer by trade, Bowers paints on wood panels. He incorporates acrylic paint with varying combinations of oil pastels, oil crayons, charcoal, stenciling and polyurethane finishes to build layers of bold images and vivid color. Bowers also creates large outdoor sculptures, using a variety of durable materials, such as steel poles, plastic tubing and bowling balls.
Bowers and his wife, Becky, own Bowers Art Studio & Gallery at 705 Douglas Street in Sioux City.
