Allison Cook, director of community engagement for The Story of Stuff Project, will speak about the 20-minute movie that went viral, “The Story of Stuff,” at Morningside College at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 31, in the Yockey Family Community Room in the Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Ave.

This presentation, which is free and open to the public, will explore our society’s production and consumption patterns, as well as how citizens can be vehicles for effective, positive change. Following the “The Story of Stuff” video, Cook will hold an open discussion. The presentation is sponsored by Morningside College’s Committee on Environmental Sustainability and the Campus Events Series.

The Story of Stuff Project, which started over five years ago with an online movie about the way society makes, uses and throws away “stuff,” has turned into a movement involving 500,000 participants, working to build a more healthy and just planet. The movie exposes the connections between a number of environmental and social issues, and focuses on how individuals can create a more sustainable environment.
