| The Iowa Attorney General’s Office has internships available in its Consumer Protection Division in Des Moines, Iowa. Interns will work on consumer complaint cases, special projects, and ongoing consumer-related projects. They will have the opportunity to work with attorneys, investigators, support staff, and independently. Most interns also have a chance to attend trials, oral arguments or hearings.
Our interns assist attorneys and investigators on cases that affect a great number of consumers. As complaint handlers, interns have the opportunity to be advocates for consumers: corresponding with companies to resolve conflicts and to ensure fair treatment of consumers. Consumer issues the Attorney General’s Office has recently handled include: autos, credit, home repair, internet scams and telemarketing.
Desired characteristics include outstanding oral and written communication skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently and with others. Full and part-time, unpaid internships are available. The Consumer Protection Division prefers interns to commit a minimum of 8 to 10 hours a week. Though unpaid, we will assist in meeting academic credit requirements. Interns in the Attorney General’s Office come from a variety of majors and interests including pre-law, public policy, political science, consumer and family sciences, law enforcement, business, and communications. This internship opportunity offers great work experience, support and supervision from friendly and esteemed professionals.
