Associate Vice President for Business Services/Controller

Morningside University announces the employment opportunity for the position of Associate Vice President for Business Services/Controller. This full-time position directs the financial affairs of the University and is responsible for the management of all student receivable accounts and loan programs. In addition, this position is responsible for the University’s accounting and reporting function; preparation of all federal and state financial reports; analyzing, recommending, and instituting appropriate fiscal policies, procedures, and control; and the coordination of the annual external audit process.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees Accounts Payable; Student Receivables; and Cashier office
  • Responsible for the University’s accounting and reporting function.
  • Assist in the negotiation of financing arrangements for students.
  • Develop credit and collection strategies and policies.
  • Direct benchmarking process
  • Maintain and manage the General Ledger and all Subsystems.
  • Assure the balancing and integrity of all accounts.
  • Preparation and submission of all federal and state financial reports.
  • Prepare regulatory reports and monthly financial reports.
  • Analyzing and recommending procedures and controls.
  • Coordination of the annual audit process.
  • Oversees student credit management program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • MBA; CPA; and/or CMA Certification preferred.
  • Five years of experience in a related field preferred.
  • Strong analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems is essential.
  • Strong computer skills including PC-based spreadsheets and word processing applications.
  • A customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Initiative, self-direction, and time management skills are necessary.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
