Making an impact around Siouxland
The Col. Bud Day Center works to get students active, both on campus and in the community.
Several initiatives help to promote civic engagement for Morningside College students.
Morningside Democracy Project
The Morningside Democracy Project, a student-run initiative coordinated by the Day Center, is an annual voter registration drive that focuses on registering and educating student voters at Morningside College.
Through various community partnerships, including the Sioux City League of Women Voters and the Office of the Iowa Secretary of State, the Day Center hosts various educational workshops throughout the year related to civic and political issues.
Community and Political Leaders
The Day Center hosts multiple public fora in which political candidated and elected officials visit campus to talk with members of the Morningside and Siouxland communities about their concerns.
From packaging food for local food banks to raising funds for a new shelter for trafficking survivors, students with the Center are active volunteers in the Siouxland community.
