Jared Amundson was named the NAIA National Special Teams Player of the Week.
Jared Amundson, a 6-3, 220 lb. sophomore kicker from Sioux City, was named the NAIA National Special Teams Player of the Week and the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the fifth-ranked Mustangs’ 39-6 victory against No. 14 Dakota Wesleyan University last Saturday in Mitchell, S.D.
Amundson kicked a 33-yard field goal and went four-for-four on PAT attempts.
He has made 26 consecutive PAT attempts and is 53-for-55 for the season. Amundson, who is six-for-nine on field goal attempts, is the Mustangs’ second leading scorer with 71 points and is third in the nation in kick scoring with an average of 8.9 points per game.
Morningside will take a 7-1 record into this Saturday’s 1 p.m. game against Hastings College in Hastings, Neb.
