What’s it like to be an Exploring student?
Sometimes it’s awkward when people ask me what my major is. Saying I don’t have one isn’t the response they expect, but a lot of adults have told me they changed their major like four times in college. I’ve met a ton of other Exploring students here. The admissions office made me feel really good about Exploring too.
What do you think your ideal career would consist of?
Just whatever makes me happy. I don’t want to go to work everyday hating my job, and I’d like to live semi-comfortably.
What’s your best Morningside experience so far?
The best experience has been meeting people, by far. Everyone is so kind. Every single time I sit down at lunch I meet somebody new. It’s crazy. I knew two people when I first came here. Now I know so many people that it’s insane.
What are you doing when you’re not in class?
I recently joined environmental club and choir. I like to volunteer, so I plan on being really involved with that. I’m also going to get a job to help pay my loans.
Advice to incoming freshmen?
If you don’t take risks you’re gonna regret it. I’ve found that out so much the past year. I was scared to do a lot of things and then I realized I just need to stop holding myself back. Like if you just walk up to a table of people and say hey, can I sit with you? They’re not going to say no. Lots of times you can make tons of new friends that way.
I got bit by a shark. I was swimming with 8-10 ft. sharks in Belize. You can still kind of see the scar on my hand.
