Alec DeVries is the GPAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Alec DeVries, a sophomore from Merrill, Iowa, has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for his performance at last Friday’s Augustana College Twilight Meet in Sioux Falls, S.D.
DeVries was the top finisher from a NAIA institution at an event that included several NCAA Division I and II schools. DeVries ran the four-mile course in a time of 19:03.07 to finish 13th in the individual standings and help lead Morningside to a fifth place team finish.
Morningside, ranked 14th nationally in the NAIA Men’s Cross Country Coaches’ Pre-Season Poll, will compete in the Grand View University Invitational on Sept. 19 in Des Moines, Iowa.
