Michelle Mumm finished her track & field career as a nine-time All-American after she placed in both the 800 and 1500-meter runs at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.

Michelle Mumm, a senior from Neola, Iowa, earned NAIA All-America honors in two events on Saturday at the 2018 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Mumm earned her first All-America award in the women’s 1500-meters when she placed sixth in a field of 13 runners with a time of 4:33.42. She moved up two spots after she entered the race with the eighth fastest time in the field.

Mumm came back later in the day to finish eighth in the 800-meter final with a time of 2:20.04.

Mumm earned NAIA All-America honors in track & field for the eighth and ninth times in her career.

Anna Shields of Point Park University won both the 800 and 1500-meter runs. Shields, the reigning NAIA National Champion in the 1500-meters, successfully defended her title with a time of 4:14.38 to win by an eight-second margin over runner-up Natalia Hawthorn of the University of British Columbia, who finished as the runner-up for the second year in a row. Shields, last year’s runner-up in the 800-meters, triumphed in Saturday’s final with a time of 2:04.75.
