SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside College was picked among the top four with the announcement of the 2018-19 preseason women’s basketball coaches poll Monday, Oct. 22.

The Mustangs received 87 poll points, good for the fourth slot. Concordia University of Nebraska, the defending National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ runner-up, was tabbed the league favorite edging defending national champion Dakota Wesleyan University 119-111 in ranking points and 9-3 in first-place votes. Each member of the poll’s first six (Concordia, DWU, MC, Northwestern, Hastings and Jamestown) qualified for the 2018 national tournament.

Morningside tips off the season as part of the field at the GPAC/Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Challenge hosted by St. Xavier University Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3.
