Five members from Morningside College’s men’s and women’s cross country teams were named to the 2015 All-Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Cross Country Teams.
The Mustangs’ Mark Abrams and Alex Janssen were both named to the All-GPAC Men’s Cross Country Team, while Morgan Applegarth, Michelle Mumm, and Tiffany Shepherd were tabbed to the All-GPAC Women’s Cross Country Team.
Their efforts this season helped both Morningside teams gain at-large berths for the 2015 NAIA Cross Country National Championships to be held Nov. 21 at Alpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C.
Abrams, a senior from Glenwood, Iowa, was named to the All-GPAC team for the fourth time in his career to join 2014 Morningside graduate Garret Ehlers as the only men’s cross country runners in Morningside history to receive All-GPAC honors four times. Abrams finished third in the individual standings with a time of 25:36.10 at the 2015 GPAC Cross Country Championships held Nov. 7 in Crete, Neb.
Janssen, a sophomore from Crofton, Neb., earned his spot on the All-GPAC team with the ninth place time of 26:26.18 at the GPAC Championships.
The top 15 individual finishers at the GPAC Championships comprise the all-conference teams.
