Graphic design professor to give talk on World War II poster exhibit at Morningside
John Fender, associate professor of graphic design at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, will speak about the historical and artistic qualities of World War II posters on exhibit at Morningside College at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the Helen Levitt Art Gallery.

The exhibit presents 29 original posters on loan to Morningside College from the State Historical Museum of Iowa. Fender will speak about the evolution of the poster designs over the course of the war.
The event is free and open to the public.
The posters will be on exhibit at Morningside College until Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Eppley Art Gallery, 3625 Garretson Ave. For this exhibit, the Eppley Art Gallery will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Fender has taught design at Drake University, University of Iowa and Morningside College. Through his design consultancy and production office, he undertakes a wide variety of commercial design projects, including print-based productions, video graphics and web design. He has a Master of Fine Arts in design from the University of Iowa.
