Kitty Green, assistant professor of history at Morningside College, will give a lecture on “The Historical Background of Sexism in American Politics” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, in Weikert Auditorium in Buhler Rohlfs Hall.

Kitty Green, assistant professor of history at Morningside College, will give a lecture on “The Historical Background of Sexism in American Politics” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, in Weikert Auditorium in Buhler Rohlfs Hall, 1701 Morningside Ave.

She will give a brief historical overview of sexism, show examples of sexism in politics, and look at recent manifestations of sexism in presidential campaigns.

Green has taught at Morningside College since 1996. She has a Master of Arts in history from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Col. Bud Day Center for Civic Engagement in collaboration with the Morningside College History Department.

Morningside College opened the Col. Bud Day Center for Civic Engagement in 2015. The center focuses on activities related to civic awareness and citizenship on campus and in the Sioux City area. The center is affiliated with the Morningside College Department of Economics, Political Science and Sociology.
