Morningside golfer Cody Holck was the runner-up at the 114th Iowa Amateur Championship.
Morningside’s Cody Holck made a standout showing at one of the biggest golf tournaments in the state of Iowa when he finished as the runner-up at the 114th Iowa Amateur Championship held July 18-20 at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa.
Holck, an All-GPAC performer this past season as a freshman, finished with a two-round total of three-under par 141 to finish just one stroke behind three-time champion Nate Dunn of Cedar Rapids. He shared second place with Broc Everett of West Des Moines.
Holck carded a four-under par 68 in Monday’s opening round and finished with a one-over par 73 on Wednesday. Tuesday’s second round was rained out.
He had six birdies in the opening round and four more birdies in the final round.
Holck, a native of Ankeny, Iowa, had a scoring average of 76.8 strokes per 18 holes in his Morningside freshman campaign.
