Inlay and Kiser named NAIA Competitive Cheer All-Americans
Kayla Inlay and Melanie Kiser became the Mustangs’ first-ever NAIA Competitive Cheer All-Americans.
Kayla Inlay, a sophomore from Sioux City, and Melanie Kiser, a senior from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, were named 2017 NAIA Competitive Cheer All-Americans.
They are the Mustangs’ first student-athletes to earn All-America honors in competitive cheer.
Inlay was also named a NAIA honorable mention All-American in competitive dance. Morningside’s Miranda Shipley, a sophomore from Des Moines, Iowa, and Jenna Winkler, a freshman from Papillion, Neb., were also named NAIA honorable mention All-Americans in competitive dance.
The NAIA Competitive Cheer & Dance All-America teams were selected at the NAIA’s four competitive cheer & dance group qualifier tournaments, where athletes performed tryouts in front of the tournament judges and received scores based on the quality of their routines. The All-America selections were determined on the judges’ scores.
The Mustangs’ All-Americans performed at last Friday’s NAIA Competitive Cheer & Dance Northwest Group Qualifier Tournament in Baldwin City, Kan.
