Iowa State Public Defender to speak with Morningside students
Iowa State Public Defender Jeff Wright will speak with Morningside students on Sept. 15.
Iowa State Public Defender Jeff Wright will present “Making Positive Change: Finding Solutions Through the Iowa Public Defender’s Office” to students at Morningside on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. in the UPS Auditorium in the Lincoln Center on Morningside’s campus. The event is co-hosted by the Morningside Civic Union, Morningside’s Col. Bud Day Center for Civic Engagement, and the Morningside Pre-Law Club.
Wright graduated from Morningside in 2000 with a degree in international affairs and studied law at Drake University Law School. He was admitted to the Iowa Bar in 2006 and founded the Carr & Wright Law Office. He practiced primarily in the areas of criminal, juvenile, and family law until his appointment as Chair of the Board of Parole, subsequent appointment as State Public Defender, and additional appointment to the Governor’s FOCUS Committee on Criminal Justice Reform. As Iowa’s Public Defender, Wright is focused on modernizing the Public Defender’s Office both technologically and philosophically.
