Jackie Barber, Dean of the Nylen School of Nursing at Morningside University, has been appointed to the Iowa Board of Nursing.

Jackie Barber, Dean of the Nylen School of Nursing at Morningside University, has been appointed to the Iowa Board of Nursing by Governor Kim Reynolds. Barber’s term will begin on May 1, 2022 and conclude on April 30, 2025.

“It is an honor to be appointed to the Iowa Board of Nursing by Governor Reynolds,” said Barber. “Nursing education for new and practicing nurses is more important than ever as healthcare continues to evolve and the needs of patients and nurses change. I am looking forward to being part of the board and helping make decisions that can positively influence the education and careers of our nurses in Iowa.”Jackie Barber

Barber has been instrumental in the creation of online nursing programs at Morningside. Barber has served on the nursing faculty for Morningside University since 1997 and became the Dean for the Nylen School of Nursing in 2015. Barber’s leadership has been instrumental in the launch of the online Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree programs at Morningside, and she continues to find new ways to innovate and make Morningside a place where nurses of all levels can earn their degree and advance in their careers. Barber received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Morningside University, Master of Science in Nursing from Crieghton University, Doctor of Nursing Education from the College of Saint Mary, and Clinical Nurse Leader Certification from the Commission on Nurse Certification of the American Association of College of Nursing.

The Nylen School of Nursing at Morningside University provides undergraduate and graduate-level coursework accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the Iowa Board of Nursing. Morningside’s nursing degree programs include the online RN to BSN, undergraduate nursing major, online Master of Science in Nursing, and online Doctor of Nursing Practice along with online Post-Bachelor’s and Post-Master’s certificate programs.
