Sioux City, Iowa – Jim and Sharon Walker, both from the Class of 1970, have made a generous $2 million gift to Morningside University. Half of this donation will go towards funding the new school of business building initially announced in April, while the remaining half will enhance the University’s endowment.

“The profound commitment Jim and Sharon Walker have shown to Morningside University is nothing short of extraordinary,” remarked President Dr. Albert Mosley. “Their generous gift will significantly contribute to creating a state-of-the-art business building, fostering a top-tier learning environment for our students. Furthermore, their endowment contribution is a vital investment in the University’s future, supporting continued innovation and ensuring that students from all backgrounds have access to Morningside’s exceptional education.”

The Walkers’ long-standing relationship with Morningside University is founded on deep affection and shared faith. Beyond financial generosity, they have actively participated in the university’s evolution through their leadership as part of the Morningside University Board of Directors, with Jim serving as the only lifetime member. Their significant contributions have left a lasting impact on the campus, a few of which include funding the Walker Science Center renovations, naming the Sharon Walker School of Education, and establishing the Walker Faculty Excellence Awards.

Jim and Sharon Walker’s philanthropic journey demonstrates visionary support, facilitating Morningside’s growth through both prosperous and challenging times. The Walkers’ unwavering belief in the institution’s potential has been an inspirational force, motivating others to follow suit.

Dr. Mosley added, “The Walkers are people of incredible faith and generosity. Their love of the Lord is evident in everything they have ever done. This latest donation extends their remarkable legacy at Morningside University, embodying loyalty and hope for the institution’s future. Their gifts are not only a financial catalyst but also serve as a beacon for alumni and benefactors, underscoring the importance of giving back and investing in future generations.”
