Dave Madsen, assistant professor and chair of mass communication at Morningside College, recently presented a paper at a Broadcast Education Association conference at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

He presented a paper on “How Millennials are Reshaping the Local News Landscape,” which he co-authored with Marilyn Eastman, associate professor of marketing at Morningside. The paper discussed research done in Eastman’s Digital and Social Marketing class last spring, which was designed to determine the local news consumption habits of millennials, or those ages 18 to 34.

The conference was attended by professors and graduate students from colleges and universities across the country to learn more about topics in media research and attend workshops on media-related issues.

Madsen has been a professor at Morningside College since 2009. He has 34 years of experience in commercial television and radio. Madsen has a master’s degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
