Men’s soccer season ends in GPAC Quarterfinals
Midland shut out Morningside 2-0 in Tuesday’s GPAC Post-Season Tournament Quarterfinals.
Morningside’s men’s soccer season ended with a 2-0 loss against Midland in Tuesday’s GPAC Post-Season Tournament Quarterfinal in Fremont, Neb.
The Mustangs finished the campaign with a record of 9-6-3. Midland improved its record to 11-7 and will face GPAC regular season champion Hastings in Saturday’s semifinals.
Midland outshot Morningside 10-5 en route to its ninth consecutive victory against the Mustangs. The Warriors took a 1-0 lead 12 minutes into the contest when Robert Wiseman scored what proved to be the game winning goal off an assist from Dan Wheeler. Wiseman, the Warriors’ leading scorer with 17 points, has provided the game winning score in five of the Mustangs’ contests.
The Warriors stretched their advantage to 2-0 by the intermission after Daniel McBriarty scored a goal at the 38-minute mark. His score was set up by an assist from James Kilburn.
Midland goalkeeper Jack Hughes came up with four saves.
Tim Erdmann had three saves over the first 66:45 of the game for Morningside.
