Men’s tennis closes fall season
Men’s team falls to Iowa Central Community College to close its fall season.
The Mustang men’s tennis team traveled to Fort Dodge on Saturday for a doubleheader against Iowa Central Community College.
Morningside lost the first meet with a combined score of 3-6. In the doubles portion, Jory Opp and Bernie Cadario won 9-8(5) at doubles #2 for the Mustangs. In the singles portion, Jory Opp and Jesus Sanz were the only victorious players. Sanz won 6-1, 2-6, 10-2 at #2 singles, and Opp won 6-4, 7-5 at #4 singles.
In the second meet of the day, Morningside lost 2-7. The Mustangs started leading in the doubles portion after getting the victories at #2 and #3 doubles, with scores of 8-5 and 9-8(5). In the singles portion, Morningside battled a more rested ICCC team and were not able to take any wins. The closest matches were at #2 and #6 singles, Sanz lost 6-2, 5-7, 11-9, and Jose Gaal lost 1-6, 6-4, 10-6.
Mustangs men’s tennis closes the fall season at 0-2 and will return to play in spring 2019.
