Men’s Tennis Has Strong Showing at GPAC Invite Tournament
Morningside’s Bernardo Cadario captured the consolation A Championship at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Invitational Tournament, winning three consecutive matches after losing his initial match against Adnan Mehmedovic from Hastings College 6-2,6-4.
Morningside’s Bernardo Cadario captured the consolation A Championship at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Invitational Tournament, winning three consecutive matches after losing his initial match against Adnan Mehmedovic from Hastings College 6-2,6-4.
Cadario went on to defeat his own teammate Samuel Castro 7-6, 6-2 in the consolation bracket, followed by a win against Jeremiah Berryman (Concordia) 7-5, retire. Cadario then won a thrilling hard fought battle over Lucas Zoller (Concordia) 6-3,5-7,1-0(5) to claim the consolation A singles championship.
The Morningside doubles tandem of Bernardo Cadario and Jory Opp had a successful tournament by claiming second place in the B Doubles Bracket. They started with a victory over their teammates Max Prochaska and Garrett Seamans 8-4, followed by a win over Kitson/Bindl from Concordia 8-4
Cadario and Opp would fall in the B doubles Championship match 8-5 to Midland’s tandem of Lopez/Vitera,
Also of note was Morningside’s Jory Opp and Garrett Seamans, who both went 1-2 in singles play in the B Division on the weekend.
