Morningside Choir selected for Iowa Choral Directors Association Choral Showcase
The Morningside Choir has been selected to perform at the 2022 Iowa Choral Directors Association (ICDA) Choral Showcase.
The Morningside Choir has been selected to perform at the Iowa Choral Directors Association (ICDA) Choral Showcase at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6 at the Center for Faith and Life at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. The concert is open to the public. Tickets for the ICDA Choral Showcase are $10 and can be purchased online through Luther College’s ticket office at tickets.luther.edu.
The Morningside Choir will represent the college/university division and was the only university choir in the state chosen for the prestigious showcase that includes top choirs from throughout Iowa. The Morningside Choir is an auditioned choral ensemble recognized for its excellence in regional, national, and international choral performance. The choir performs a wide array of choral repertoire and is open to all Morningside students regardless of major. The Morningside Choir performs multiple concerts each semester, including the annual production of Christmas at Morningside and a regional tour in the spring. The choir performs internationally every three years, and recent international tours have taken place in Japan, Spain, and Italy. The Morningside Choir will tour Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic in 2022.
The Iowa Choral Showcase is an event hosted by the Iowa Choral Directors Association, an extension of the American Choral Directors Association. The Morningside University School of Visual and Performing Arts provides immersive opportunities for Morningside students and the Siouxland community to experience the power of music and the fine arts. All Morningside students, regardless of major, can audition and perform in ensembles and productions.
