Morningside Choir to be recognized between men’s and women’s basketball games on Wednesday, Jan. 17
SIOUX CITY, IA – In celebration of The Morningside Choir recently receiving national recognition by being awarded The American Prize in Choral Performance for the college/university division (smaller program), Morningside University will honor the students who are part of the choir on Wednesday, Jan. 17, between the women’s and men’s basketball games versus Northwestern College.
The games and recognition event will take place in Allee Gymnasium inside the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center on the campus of Morningside University. Alumni, family and loved ones, and all other supporters of the choir are invited to attend. The cost of admission for the basketball games is $10 for adults and $3 for students. Advanced tickets can be purchased here. There is no charge for Morningside students who show their Morningside ID.
Following the event, Morningside Choir members and choir alumni are invited to attend a gathering at Bob Roe’s Point After from 8-10 p.m. Pizza and wings will be provided.
Apparel celebrating the achievement of the Morningside Choir is also available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of clothing items will assist students who are part of the Morningside Choir with travel costs for their upcoming May Term trip to South Africa. The Morningside Choir, the university’s premier forty-five-member choral ensemble, has been acclaimed for its outstanding musical artistry since 1925. Under the direction of Dr. Ryan Person since 2018, the choir consists of undergraduate student musicians from various major areas of study and are among the university’s finest leaders and scholars.
