Morningside and Concordia are the co-favorites in the GPAC Women’s Basketball Coaches Pre-Season Poll. Both schools received 93 points in the pre-season poll.

Morningside and Concordia are the co-favorites in the GPAC Women’s Basketball Coaches Pre-Season Poll.

Both schools received 93 points in the pre-season poll. Concordia received five of the 11 first place votes from the league’s head coaches, while Morningside received four first place votes. The other two first place votes went to Northwestern.

The Mustangs return 10 letterwinners, including two starters, from a team that posted a 31-5 record last season and won both the GPAC regular season and post-season tournametn championships. Morningside made its 11th consecutive appearance in the NAIA Division II National Tournament, where it lost by one point (65-64) against eventual NAIA II National Champion Indiana Wesleyan in the semifinals.

Morningside will open the 2013-14 campaign at the Ashford University Classic on Nov. 1 and 2 in Clinton, Iowa.
