Members of the Morningside College Accounting Club recently received the Iowa CPAs Month of Service Team Community Impact Award from the Iowa Society of CPAs (ISCPA).
The award was presented to the Morningside College student organization during the ISCPA leadership conference and annual meeting in Altoona, Iowa. The award recognizes the club for outstanding dedication to community by positively impacting the lives of a specific population segment or group in need through participation in the Iowa CPAs Month of Service event held annually in September.
The Morningside College Accounting Club members assisted with the Siouxland Humane Society’s annual Pets on Parade event in Sioux City’s Riverside Park, volunteered at the Food Bank of Siouxland to pack food into backpacks for area grade school students and helped Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Siouxland organize its annual tour of homes fundraiser.
Twyla Rosenbaum, associate professor of business administration and faculty adviser for the accounting club, said, “Club members understand that community service is imperative and expected, even before they become working CPAs.”
Approximately 40 students, most of whom are accounting majors, are members of the Morningside College Accounting Club.
