College announces new director of safety and security
Morningside College recently announced a new director of safety and security after the retirement of the previous director, as well as two new employees in the department.

Morningside College recently announced a new director of safety and security after the retirement of the previous director, as well as two new employees in the department.
Brett Lyon was named director of safety and security after serving eight years as assistant director. He will oversee all safety and security issues related to the campus. Lyon has a bachelor’s degree from Morningside College, and he is completing a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota.
Jimmy Murphy was hired to be the assistant director of safety and security. Among other things, he is responsible for evening security on campus and supervising security officers on the night shift. Murphy has military, police and private security experience. He has an associate’s degree in police science technology from Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City.
Darin Wright was hired to serve as a campus safety and security officer. He performs a variety of security duties for the college. He previously was a security officer for Western Iowa Tech Community College. Before that, he worked in security for Gateway in Sioux City.
