Morningside College announced six employees recently hired by the college.
Morningside College announced six employees recently hired by the college.
They are Mark Adkins, sports information director; Logan Buth, software engineer; Melissa Keyes Nelson, internship and externship coordinator for applied agricultural and food studies; the Rev. Andrew Nelson, director of campus ministry and community service; Carolyn Smith, student adviser for graduate education; and Jodi Strohbeen, director of the bookstore.
Adkins manages all aspects of sports information for the college’s intercollegiate teams, as well as related programs and events. He has worked in sports information for almost 20 years, most recently at Manchester University in North Manchester, Ind. He also has worked as a newspaper reporter. He has a bachelor’s degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
Buth organizes and supervises software development on campus and its integration with other systems. He also supervises student workers. Buth has a bachelor’s degree from Morningside College. While a student at Morningside, he worked for the college as a student technology assistant and as a web developer.
Keyes Nelson assists with the development, delivery and supervision of internships and externships. She previously was director of Siouxland Agriculture in the Classroom, a program that promotes awareness of agriculture in classrooms across a seven-county area. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Nelson is responsible for the religious life of the Morningside College community. He provides pastoral care, programmatic leadership, spiritual direction, and guidance in life and faith. He also is the point person for community service opportunities. Nelson previously served Morningside in a part-time position. He has a Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn.
Smith regularly discusses academic progress and goals with students and assists them in navigating the college’s online system and services. She previously was an educational consultant and license renewal coordinator for Northwest Area Education Agency and has 40 years of experience in education. She has a master’s degree from Morningside College.
Strohbeen is responsible for overall operations of the college bookstore. She has over 28 years of experience as a store manager, most recently at Lane Bryant in Sioux City. She previously worked in Sioux City as a department manager for Gordmans and a store manager at the Disney Store. She attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb.
