Morningside College recently announced two new faculty members in the School of Visual and Performing Arts.

Morningside College recently announced two new faculty members in the School of Visual and Performing Arts.
The new faculty members are Erik Mahon, assistant professor of music and director of jazz studies, and Ryan Person, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities.
Mahon previously served as a visiting assistant professor of trumpet at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. He has teaching experience in South Dakota and Kansas, and he has performed across the Midwest and on Royal Caribbean cruise ships. He has a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
Person most recently served as a graduate choral conductor, course instructor and teaching assistant at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Before that, he served for 10 years as a choir director at West High School in Iowa City, Iowa, and Okoboji High School in Milford, Iowa. He has a Doctor of Musical Arts in choral conducting from Texas Tech University.
