The Morningside College Jazz Band and the Eclectix Vocal Jazz Ensemble will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in Eppley Auditorium.

The Morningside College Jazz Band and the Eclectix Vocal Jazz Ensemble will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave.

The concert is free and open to the public. The program will include a range of vocal and instrumental music, such as swing, rock, funk and ballads.

The Morningside Jazz Band will perform “Always and Forever” by Pat Metheny; a new chicken song, “R U Chicken?”; and an original composition by the jazz band. Eclectix will perform “You Can Call Me Al” by Paul Simon, arranged by James Ferril and “Unchain My Heart” by Bobby Sharp and Teddy Powell, arranged by Kirby Shaw.

The Morningside College Jazz Band is a student ensemble that performs music written for big band. It is under the direction of Tony Hutchins.

The Eclectix Vocal Jazz Ensemble is a student ensemble that performs a mix of jazz, show and pop tunes both a cappella and with a rhythm section. It is under the direction of Tim Watson.
