The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical “Cats” is based on a collection of T.S. Elliot poems and tells the story of a tribe of cats who audition for the chance to be selected to be reborn. The original Broadway production won the 1983 Tony for best musical.

The Morningside production is directed by Michael Skaff with Adam Webb as musical director, Kristin Samek as stage manager and Randy Peters as costume designer.

In the event of rain, performances move to Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave., on the Morningside campus.

Other productions scheduled for the summer Betty Ling Tsang Fine Arts Series include a holiday pops concert with the Sioux City Symphony on June 27; the children’s musical “Hansel and Gretel and the Long Way Home” on July 10 and 11; and a sing-a-long to the musical “Oklahoma!” on August 7 and 8. All performances are free and open to the public.
