Music department to present spring choral concert
Morningside College will present a choir concert titled “Faire is the Heaven” that will feature choral music by composers from Slovenia, Germany, Lithuania, England and the United States at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15, in Eppley Auditorium.
Morningside College will present a choir concert titled “Faire is the Heaven” that will feature choral music by composers from Slovenia, Germany, Lithuania, England and the United States at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave.
It will feature music from the Renaissance through the present – including “Faire is the Heaven,” a double choir piece by 20th-century London composer William Harris.
Admission is $5 at the door.
The Morningside College Choir, Eclectix Jazz Choir and Siouxland Master Chorale will perform at the concert.
The Morningside College Choir is an auditioned choir of approximately 35 students. The Eclectix Vocal Jazz Ensemble is a smaller student group that performs a mix of jazz, show and pop tunes both a cappella and with a rhythm section. The Siouxland Master Chorale is a community chorus for men and women, including Morningside College students.
Directing the performances will be Tim Watson, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Morningside, and Jean Hickman, assistant professor of music education. Jayne Koch will accompany the Siouxland Master Chorale.
