Morningside College music professor named to state association leadership role
Tim Watson, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Morningside College, was recently named chair of the Youth and Student Activities Area for the Iowa Choral Directors Association’s (ICDA) Repertoire and Standards Committee.
Tim Watson, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Morningside College, was recently named chair of the Youth and Student Activities Area for the Iowa Choral Directors Association’s (ICDA) Repertoire and Standards Committee.
As one of 13 Repertoire and Standards Committee area chairs, Watson will coordinate all college student activities in the state for ICDA. He has served in the past as ICDA president, vice president and convention chairman.
ICDA has more than 1,000 members who are choral conductors at every level of learning from pre-school to adult. ICDA is an affiliate of the American Choral Directors Association, one of the world’s largest professional organizations for choral directors with a membership of approximately 17,000.
Watson has been a member of the Morningside music faculty since 2003. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and a Master of Music degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D.
