The Commission on Nurse Certification of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing has announced that Jackie Barber and Dianna Sorenson, both professors of nursing education at Morningside College, have earned the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) certification.

The Commission on Nurse Certification of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing has announced that Jackie Barber and Dianna Sorenson, both professors of nursing education at Morningside College, have earned the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) certification.

Nursing professionals earn the CNL certification through graduate education, supervised clinical experience, clinical immersion and successful completion of a certification examination. A CNL certified nurse is qualified to practice across the full spectrum of patient care within any health care setting.

Barber is dean of Morningside’s Nylen School of Nursing. A member of the Morningside faculty since 1997, Barber has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Morningside, a master’s degree in nursing from Creighton University in Omaha, and a doctorate in education from the College of Saint Mary in Omaha.

Sorenson joined the Morningside faculty in 2016 as a professor in the college’s graduate nursing program. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from South Dakota State University in Brookings, a master’s degree in nursing from Montana State University in Bozeman, an MBA from the University of Sioux Falls, and a doctorate in clinical nursing research from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
