Brandon Boesch, assistant professor of philosophy at Morningside College, recently presented a paper at the Seventh Biennial Meeting of the Society for Philosophy of Science in Practice in Ghent, Belgium.

Brandon Boesch, assistant professor of philosophy at Morningside College, recently presented a paper at the Seventh Biennial Meeting of the Society for Philosophy of Science in Practice in Ghent, Belgium.

The paper was titled “Representational Practice in Public Health Representative Sampling.” Boesch and his co-author, Michaela Schenkelberg from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, examined the practice of collecting representative samples through surveys for public health research. Boesch and Schenkelberg studied the many tasks that public health scientists perform to make sure that their sample is representative.

Boesch joined the faculty at Morningside College this fall. He specializes in the philosophy of science and applied ethics, such as bioethics, environmental ethics and the ethics of philanthropy. Boesch has a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of South Carolina.
