Susie Lubbers, assistant professor of education at Morningside College, recently helped complete an accreditation review of the education department at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
Lubbers was appointed to the five-person accreditation review team by the Iowa Department of Education. Every teacher preparation program in Iowa must be reviewed by the Iowa Department of Education on a regular basis to ensure compliance with its regulations.
On Cornell’s review team, Lubbers focused on the area of clinical placements. She read through the institution’s preliminary review report and visited schools in Iowa City and Mount Vernon to interview student teachers and cooperating teachers. She also helped write the final report.
Lubbers taught at Sioux City East High School for 14 years before coming to Morningside College in 2006. She has a master’s degree from Southwest Minnesota State University.
