The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) recently honored Morningside College sophomore Jonathan Covert from Algona, Iowa, with a finalist award for his music program on KMSC 92.9 FM, Morningside’s student operated radio station.

The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) recently honored Morningside College sophomore Jonathan Covert from Algona, Iowa, with a finalist award for his music program on KMSC 92.9 FM, Morningside’s student operated radio station.

Covert accepted the award at the 78th Annual Intercollegiate Broadcast System International Media Conference in New York City. He was one of six student broadcasters recognized with a finalist award in the “Best Specialty Music Show” category. IBS received more than 7,000 entries for its college broadcast awards competition.

Covert’s live show on KMSC features rock music and airs Tuesdays from 9 p.m. to midnight and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. KMSC also streams its programming online at https://my.morningside.edu/academics/mass_communication/kmsc/.

Covert, a mass communication major at Morningside, is a 2017 graduate of Algona High School.
