Morningside College students selected for Tyson Foods Summer Community Internship Program

Eleven Morningside College students are doing paid summer internships with several Sioux City area nonprofit agencies as part of the Tyson Foods Summer Community Internship Program, a new initiative that supports community organizations through college internships.
The Tyson Foods Summer Community Internship Program provides full-time college students an eight-week paid summer internship to assist community organizations and gain experience with diverse social issues. Tyson Foods is underwriting the program, which launched this summer in Chicago, Sioux City, Storm Lake and Council Bluffs. Campus Compact affiliates in Iowa and Illinois are overseeing and administering the program.
Following is a list of the Sioux City area nonprofit organizations that received grants to host interns and the Morningside College students selected for the internships.
Mary Treglia Community House: Mikaela Livengood, a senior accounting major from Eagle Grove, Iowa; Sofia Marrufo, a junior biology and Spanish double major from Barquisimeto, Venezuela; Kyla Stallmann, a junior English education major from Hospers, Iowa.
Food Bank of Siouxland: Jessica Higgins, a senior political science major from Brandon, S.D.; Niccole Wolken, a senior graphic design, photography and advertising major from Marshalltown, Iowa.
United Way of Siouxland: Britney Katzenstein, a senior biopsychology major from Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Haven House (South Sioux City): Veronica Mullen, a senior nursing major from Omaha, Neb.
Third Judicial District Juvenile Court Services: Seth Maitlen, a senior social and behavioral science major from Creston, Iowa.
Buy Fresh Buy Local (Farmer’s Market): Lindsey Smith, a senior English major from Glidden, Iowa.
Sioux City Human Rights Commission: Ally Hecht, a junior political science major from Leavenworth, Kan.
Sioux City College Access Network: Danna Sanchez, a junior American/world history education major from Sioux City, Iowa.
Morningside College also provides the interns an additional stipend and on-campus housing during the summer.
