Three Morningside College psychology students recently won awards for poster presentations each of them made at the Great Plains Students’ Psychology Convention held in Topeka, Kan.

Three Morningside College psychology students recently won awards for poster presentations each of them made at the Great Plains Students’ Psychology Convention held in Topeka, Kan.
Brandi Blunk, a senior developmental psychology major from Denison, Iowa, was recognized for her presentation “Analyzing Adult Attitudes Toward Hospice Care.” Blunk is a 2014 graduate of Denison High School.
Shelby Petersen, a senior biopsychology and biology double major from Huxley, Iowa, won for her presentation “Criminal Investigative Analysis and Racial Profiling.” Petersen is a 2014 graduate of Ballard High School.
Trevor Wheelock, a senior biopsychology major from Boone, Iowa, received an award for his presentation “Cognitive Effects of Rapid Weight Loss in Collegiate Wrestlers.” Wheelock is a 2014 graduate of Ogden (Iowa) High School.
Other Morningside students who presented at the convention included Elizabeth Boell, a senior social and behavioral science major from Carroll, Iowa; Alejandra Castillo, a senior psychology counseling and biopsychology double major from Storm Lake, Iowa; Lauren Chadwick, a senior biopsychology major from Sioux City; Jesse Nitzschke, a senior psychology counseling major from Le Mars, Iowa; and Teresa Sutton, a junior psychology counseling major from Sioux City.
Morningside psychology faculty also attended the convention, including Shannon Claxton, assistant professor; Shannon De Clute, assistant professor; Jack Hill, professor; Jessica LaPaglia, assistant professor; and Jessica Pleuss, assistant professor.
