Morningside College alumni, friends, students and parents will have the opportunity to attend a variety of events during “Homecoming Family Fun Weekend 2015” Oct. 9 through 11.

Morningside College alumni, friends, students and parents will have the opportunity to attend a variety of events during “Homecoming Family Fun Weekend 2015” Oct. 9 through 11.

Reunion classes honored during Homecoming will be 1955, 1965, 1975, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2005 and 2015. Other reunion groups recognized during the weekend will include Dimmitt Hall residents, 2005 Great Plains Athletic Conference football champions, ag business alumni, and members of the sororities Delta Zeta and Alpha Delta Pi.

On Thursday, Oct. 8, Morningside students will participate in a talent show and Homecoming coronation at 7 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave. The events are free and open to the public.

The weekend kicks off on Friday, Oct. 9, with a reunion dinner for the classes of 1955 and 1965 at the home of President John and Robin Reynders. Other alumni, reunion groups and friends will gather at Bob Roe’s Point After for pizza, wings and socializing.

At 5:30 and 7 p.m., the women’s volleyball team will host games versus Nebraska Wesleyan in the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center, 3415 Peters Ave.

Events on Saturday, Oct. 10, include alumni receptions, the M-Club luncheon and athletic hall of fame awards presentation, and campus tours featuring, among other things, the $14 million renovation of Dimmitt Hall.

The Homecoming football game against Hastings College begins at 1:30 p.m. in Elwood Olsen Stadium, 3201 Peters Ave.

After the football game, “Taste of Morningside” begins at 4 p.m. under the tents on the west end stadium parking lot. “Taste of Morningside” will feature music by national recording artist and 2014 Morningside College graduate Casey Muessigmann. There will be food from Pizza Ranch, La Juanita’s, Miles Inn, Bob Roe’s Point After, Jerry’s Pizza, Palmer Candy, Dairy Queen, Clyde’s Grill and Pub, and Kirk’s BBQ. Tickets for “Taste of Morningside” can be purchased on site.

At 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively, the women’s and men’s soccer teams will host games versus Concordia in Elwood Olsen Stadium.

On Sunday, Oct. 11, a worship service will take place at 10 a.m. in Eppley Auditorium, followed by a marquis brunch in the Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Ave.

Also that weekend, there will be alumni artwork on display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10, in the Eppley Art Gallery, 3625 Garretson Ave.
