Morningside College alumni, friends, students and parents will have the opportunity to attend a variety of events during “Homecoming and Family Fun Weekend 2017” Oct. 6 through Oct. 8.

Morningside College alumni, friends, students and parents will have the opportunity to attend a variety of events during “Homecoming and Family Fun Weekend 2017” Oct. 6 through Oct. 8.

Reunion classes honored during Homecoming will be 1957, 1967, 1992 and 2007.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, Morningside students will participate in a talent show and Homecoming coronation at 7 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave. These events are free and open to the public.

The weekend kicks off on Friday, Oct. 6, with campus tours starting at 9 a.m. and continuing until 2 p.m. There will be a reunion dinner for the classes of 1957 and 1967 at the home of President John and Robin Reynders. Other alumni, reunion groups and friends will gather at Bob Roe’s Point After.

Events on Saturday, Oct. 7, start at 8 a.m. with the “Amazing Mustang Race” at Elwood Olsen Stadium, 3201 Peters. Ave. The race features alumni, families and students competing in an obstacle course on campus. After the race, there will be a pancake feed for all alumni at the Elwood Olsen Stadium shelter. Other events include alumni receptions, the M-Club luncheon and athletic hall of fame awards presentation, and campus tours. The Homecoming football game against Dakota Wesleyan University begins at 1:30 p.m. in Elwood Olsen Stadium. Admission is $8 for adults and $3 for students.

After the football game, “Taste of Morningside” begins at 4 p.m. under the tents on the west end stadium parking lot. “Taste of Morningside” will feature Final Mix Show Band, a cover band that plays music from all the decades. There will be food from Pizza Ranch, La Juanita’s, Miles Inn, Bob Roe’s Point After, Jerry’s Pizza, Palmer Candy, Dairy Queen, Clyde’s Grill and Pub, and Kylie Q’s BBQ. Tickets for “Taste of Morningside” can be purchased on site.

At 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively, junior varsity and varsity volleyball will host Briar Cliff University in the Rosen-Verdoorn Sports Center, 3415 Peters Ave. Also, at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively, the women’s soccer team will host College of St. Mary and the men’s soccer team will host the University of Jamestown at Elwood Olsen Stadium.

On Sunday, Oct. 8, at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively, alumni women’s and men’s soccer games will be held at Elwood Olsen Stadium.

At 10 a.m., a worship service featuring an alumni and student choir will take place in Eppley Auditorium. There will be a marquis brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Ave. The cost is $12 for adults and $7 for children ages 12 and under.

Alumni artwork will be on display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7 in the art gallery in Eppley Auditorium.
