Morningside is offering four performing arts camps this summer for students looking to develop musical, vocal or theatrical skills.

Morningside College is offering four performing arts camps this summer for students looking to develop musical, vocal or theatrical skills.

The Broadway Fab Camp will be June 16-20. This camp offers students in kindergarten through eighth grade the chance to experience singing, dancing and acting in a nurturing environment. Each day runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon, with a final performance for the community at 6 p.m. June 20 in the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center on campus.

The Young Artists Performance Institute will be June 23-27. This five-day residential program, which includes room and board, is for ninth to 12th graders who want to expand their skills as singers and actors. The program will conclude with a performance at 7 p.m. June 27 in the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center.

The Show Choir Camp also will be June 23-27. This residential program is for ninth to 12th graders who want to gain important skills and build well-rounded proficiency in show choir and stage performance. This camp also will conclude with a performance at 7 p.m. June 27 in the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center.

The Summer Music Academy will be July 8- 11. This four-day residential camp for eighth to 12th graders focuses on skills for marching band.  The instructional staff includes some of the top names in the activity. Participants will have the opportunity to work with two world-class ensembles, the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps from Casper, Wyo., and the two-time Drum Corps International World Champion, Madison Scouts from Madison, Wis. There will be sessions on show design, visual fundamentals, color guard/dance, drum major training, brass and woodwind techniques, and more. There also will be a director’s session for band directors.
