Morningside College will host the Iowa Writing Center Consortium (IWCC) annual conference on its campus Friday, April 4, bringing together college and university writing center staffs and students from throughout Iowa and neighboring states.

David Elder, professor of writing and rhetoric at Morningside and IWCC president, said the one-day conference is expected to attract representatives from Briar Cliff University, Central College, Des Moines Area Community College, Drake University, Iowa State University, Knox College, Monmouth College, Mount Mercy University, Northwestern College, Saint Ambrose University, University of Iowa, Upper Iowa University, Wartburg College and William Penn University.

The writing centers at Morningside and Briar Cliff planned and organized the conference.

“This conference is an opportunity for writing center staff members and students to share best practices and present research results with the goal of improving writing instruction on college campuses,” Elder said.

The conference sessions begin Friday morning in Morningside’s Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Ave.
