Morningside College to host open call auditions for “Into the Woods”
Morningside College will host open call auditions at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in Klinger-Neal Theatre for a spring semester production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods.” High school students are especially encouraged to participate.
Morningside College will host open call auditions at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in Klinger-Neal Theatre, 3700 Peters Ave., for a spring semester production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods.” High school students are especially encouraged to participate.
“Into the Woods” is a musical combining the stories of “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “Rapunzel,” “Little Red Riding Hood,” and “Cinderella.” A witch uses a baker and his wife to teach all of the characters important lessons. The musical has run on Broadway and will be released as a feature film on Thursday, Dec. 25.
All those interested in auditioning are required to prepare 32 bars of vocal music. Please bring sheet music or CD accompaniment. An accompanist and CD player will be provided. Absolutely no a cappella singing will be accepted. The role of the witch is not available.
Callbacks will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, in Klinger-Neal Theatre. Rehearsals will begin on Thursday, Jan. 8. Performances will run Thursday through Sunday, March 19-22 and March 26-29, in Klinger-Neal Theatre.
