Morningside College to host vocal jazz workshop
Jazz choirs from 13 area high schools will participate in a vocal jazz workshop at Morningside College on Monday, Feb. 23, in Eppley Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
Jazz choirs from 13 area high schools will participate in a vocal jazz workshop at Morningside College from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
Choirs have the option of performing for a gold, silver or bronze rating. Outstanding solo and accompaniment certificates also will be awarded. Clinicians for the workshop will be Michael Krueger, Lynne Rothrock, Jean Hickman and Heath Weber.
Krueger is the conductor and music director of the Larimer Chorale in Fort Collins, Colo., and Voices West in Littleton, Colo. Rothrock is a professional singer and entertainer from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who tours throughout the Midwest with a female vocal group called Divapalooza. Hickman is an assistant professor of music education at Morningside College, and Weber is associate dean for performing arts at Morningside.
The workshop is being coordinated by Tim Watson, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Morningside.
